HACKING A BRAND NEW MAC REMOTELY, RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX

APPLE'S SUPPLY CHAIN is one of the most closely monitored and analyzed in the world, both because of the control the company exerts and keen interest from third parties. But there's still never a guarantee that a mass-produced product will come out of the box totally pristine. In fact, it's possible to remotely compromise a brand new Mac the first time it connects to Wi-Fi. That attack, which researchers will demonstrate Thursday at the Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas, targets enterprise Macs that use A pple's D evice E nrollment P rogram and its Mobile Device Management platform. These enterprise tools allow employees of a company to walk through the customized IT setup of a Mac themselves, even if they work in a satellite office or from home. The idea is that a company can ship Macs to its workers directly from Apple's warehouses, and the devices will automatically configure to join their corporate ecosystem after booting up for the first time an...

BadUSB Malware Code Released — Turn USB Drives Into Undetectable "CyberWeapons"

Once again USB has come up as a major threat to a vast number of users who use USB drives – including USB sticks and keyboards. Security researchers have released a bunch of hacking tools that can be used to convert USB drive into silent malware installer. This vulnerability has come about to be known as "BadUSB", whose source code has been published by the researchers on the open source code hosting website Github , demanding manufacturers either to beef up protections for USB flash drive firmware and fix the problem or leave hundreds of millions of users vulnerable to the attack. The code released by researchers Adam Caudill and Brandon Wilson has capability to spread itself by hiding in the firmware meant to control the ways in which USB devices connect to computers. The hack utilizes the security flaw in the USB that allows an attacker to insert malicious code into their firmware. But Wait! How to See if Your Hard Drive is Dying with S.M.A.R.T.

Hard drives use S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) to gauge their own reliability and determine if they’re failing. You can view your hard drive’s S.M.A.R.T. data and see if it has started to develop problems. Unfortunately, Windows doesn’t have an easy-to-use built-in tool that shows your hard disk’s S.M.A.R.T. data. We will need a third-party tool to view this information, though there is a way to check your S.M.A.R.T. status from the command prompt.

how to access banned websites

Restrictions and bans over websites are always annoying, and governments are now censoring content more than ever. Check out the 6 easy ways to bypass the censorship to access blocked websites. Given the current stature of the constitutional “Rights” and “Freedoms” conferred upon the public in most of the democracies, censorship and bans on trivial matters often come as a surprise. And in the era of the Internet, harassing the general public is even easier. Be it the controversial net neutrality, or restriction to access to specific websites. If you also feel stifled by the blocked websites then here are some ways to access blocked websites:   1. Become Anonymous: Use Proxy Websites A proxy website becomes a moderator between the user and server site. The proxy website camouflages the blocked site from the ISPs and allows you to access blocked websites. To get a proxy website for any blocked site, just perform the Google search. Eg: Facebook Proxy Server. In case, Facebook is ...

Fatal error: the system has become unstable or is busy," it says. "Enter to return to Windows or press Control-Alt-Delete to restart your computer. If you do this you will lose any unsaved information in all open applications." You have just been struck by the Blue Screen of Death. Anyone who uses Mcft Windows will be familiar with this. What can you do? More importantly, how can you prevent it happening? 1 Hardware conflict The number one reason why Windows crashes is hardware conflict. Each hardware device communicates to other devices through an interrupt request channel (IRQ). These are supposed to be unique for each device. For example, a printer usually connects internally on IRQ 7. The keyboard usually uses IRQ 1 and the floppy disk drive IRQ 6. Each device will try to hog a single IRQ for itself. If there are a lot of devices, or if they are not installed properly, two of them may end up sharing the same IRQ number. When the user tries to use both devices at t...

How to Change Windows Taskbar Preview Time for Improved Performance

For as long as Windows has featured a recognisable GUI, it has had a task bar running along the bottom of the screen. Windows 7 changed this long running feature for the better with what was marketed as the “Superbar.” Programs were grouped into labels, ready to be pinned as shortcuts, and previews were finally an option. While the change has been good enough to survive right into the latest Windows 10 preview builds, the preview speed has always left a bit to be desired. Considering some previews have additional buttons – an obvious example being iTunes – waiting for a pop-up to take control is a pain. These tweaks involve the Windows Registry; an in-depth explanation of the Registry and how it works is available here. Tweaking the Registry Begin by opening the Registry Editor – open the Windows Search and type regedit, then press Enter. Accept the prompt to open the Registry Editor. You should be presented with a tree navigation system along the side of the window. Go to th...

Suddenly, a very large number of people are curious about what large companies do to ensure that their websites stay up, and why websites sometimes go belly-up for a few hours. It’s time to speak about both of these things! The Causes

What System Restore Can and Cannot Do to Your Windows System

Every time your system gets corrupted or when something goes wrong, like bad drivers or misconfigured settings, the first thing that comes to our mind is to restore the system to the previous good state. Actually, it is one of the most suggested options as it is not only easy to perform but solves some of the basic problems like corrupted system files. But as useful as it is, there is a lot of ambiguity and some misconceptions about what Windows System Restore can and cannot do whenever you perform a system restore to fix things up. So let’s find out and clear up the confusion on what the system restore can and cannot do on your system. This app helps you land an airplane

WASHINGTON: Here comes an app that would help you land your plane in case the aircraft engine fails. The new iPad app Xavion connects with a small plane's autopilot via Wi-Fi that would guide you to the nearest airport or safe landing area. The Xavion App extracts data from the autopilot to provide additional aid to the pilot. The pilot can then make an informed decision and land the plane safely. "Our tests took us practically all the way down to touchdown. If the pilot didn't take over, he would have just had a hard landing, broken the landing gear, and everyone would have walked away," Austin Meyer, who has developed the app, was quoted as saying in online portal Popular Science.
